It is summer and I want to stay in bed,
Our springtime is behind me.
Autumn will be next.

The grass whispers out
a long green breath.
Peaceful would
be one way
to describe this
sudden quietness.

The sheets ripple
as if I am a stone
dropped into them.
I wish I could confuse
being serene with being alone.

Summer sings its soft blue song.
I close my eyes and listen to its words.
Fall waits while summer slowly disappears.
